Linda’s story is departure from the usual flow of many MC stories because in most of such stories, the control is not consciously registered by the victim - or the victim just could not help him/herself. In Linda’s case, her agency is imperfectly preserved and hence there is internal conflict. To better represent that conflict as part of the story, there's need to show Linda's thoughts - this is different from the original text where most of Linda's conflicts are only mentioned in narration. Some license is necessary here.
