This scene follows on the same day after the classroom scene from the previous chapter, but putting this part in the previous book would leave the next chapter a bit of a standout (since the chapters after that belong together), so I’ve stuck the chapter into the beginning of a new book instead.
In any case, the next two chapters focus on Linda’s gradual acceptance of her situation… here, Linda returns home to confront the new reality that her mom is now seducing Mr Stone... and she's being compelled to participate. For Kate's part, her dressing is increasingly looser to reflect her adjusted personality.
